Joíní James | The Resting Garden

Joíní James’ public health journey was inspired as an undergrad student by a conversation with a professor about socioeconomic status, how where you lived impacted your health outcomes, and racism.

Since 2020, as founder of The Resting Garden, Joíní James has provided trauma-informed, empathetic doula care, for Black, Brown, and Indigenous birthing people, encouraging self-advocacy, providing education, and championing birth and reproductive justice.

By offering pregnancy support, education, and the early postpartum support birthing people and families need, she bolsters the new parents she works with as they overcome anxiety about pregnancy and childbirth and confidently transition into parenthood and beyond.
